Kenneth A. Myers, 86, of Battle Creek, died March 3, 2014 at the Manor of Battle Creek. Kenneth was born September 12, 1927 in Battle Creek to James and Elizabeth (Byrd) Myers. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and went on to work for Post General Foods, retiring in 1983.
Kenneth was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and spend a lot of time Up North. He was a member of numerous organizations, including the Bedford Masonic Lodge, Post Sportsman's Club, the American Legion Post # 298 and Baldwin VFW Post #5315, the Shriners Club, the Post 25 Year Club and was a charter member of the Battle Creek P.N.A. He also enjoyed boxing and was part of the Golden Gloves.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda; his daughter, Jill A. Sampson of Battle Creek; a step-daughter, Kimberly Maricic; two grandchildren, Tiffany Sampson and Shane Sampson; three step grandchildren, Josh Carpenter, Sam Carpenter and Jessica Maricic; five great-grandchildren, Shantele, Shavareal, Shandalynn, Devon and Darian; two great great-grandchildren, Layah and Justin, and a step great great-grandchild, Julian Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anna Martinovich.
A graveside service to celebrate Kenneth's life will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
