Kenneth Ward "Ken" Steuerwald

Kenneth Ward Steuerwald, age 84, died peacefully on May 11, 2013 surrounded by his family at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. The son of Gilbert E. and Nell S. (Canfield) Steuerwald, Ken was born on April 26, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI. Although he lived in Kalamazoo since 2004, his heart remained in Wisconsin, where he grew up in Wauwatosa and raised his family in Grafton. Ken honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, when he met and married Fumiko (Penny) Nagafuchi while stationed in Yakuska, Japan. Ken retired in 1991 as a Field Service Engineer for the National Cash Register Corporation after 36 years of service. He was a loyal American, dedicated employee and generous in spirit to all. He enjoyed many years fishing on Lake Michigan and hunting with his brothers.
Ken greatly loved his family and is survived by his wife, Penny; daughters, Donna (Stephen) Dunyak, Pamela (Byron) Caughey; five grandsons, Kalen, Bryan, Evan, Austin and Shaun and by his favorite canine companion, Yuki.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Ken's life will be held Saturday, July 6th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) with the United States Navy Honor Guard bestowing Military Honors at 3:00 p.m. Final interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
