Kenneth Otto "Ken" Weil, 74, of Battle Creek, Michigan, died at Bronson Battle Creek on Thursday, February 4, 2016.
Ken was born August 22, 1941, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of Otto Schroeder Weil and Estelle Dorothy (Cooper) Weil. He grew up in Linden and Clark, New Jersey, and was a 1959 graduate of Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School. Ken earned his Bachelor's Degree in Food Science at Cornell University and his PhD in the same field at Michigan State University. Ken was employed for 28 years with the Kellogg Company, retiring in 1998 as Executive Manager for Worldwide Technology.
Ken was united in marriage to the former Marjorie Hoffman on June 27, 1964, in Westfield, New Jersey, at First Baptist Church. Surviving are Marge, his wife of 51 years; two sons, Kenneth Scott (Claudia) Weil of Toledo, Ohio and James Drew (Angela) Weil of Woodbridge, Virginia; four grandchildren, Drew Kenneth Weil, Peyton Geneva Weil, Tenley Anne Weil, Maxwell Stuart Weil; three step-grandchildren, Melissa, Santiago, and Andres; and two brothers, Robert Harry Weil of Florida and Jeffrey Paul Weil of Oregon. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gregory Weil.
Ken was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he has served on the Board of Deacons and the Building Committee. His favorite interests were model railroading, Civil War history, and classical music.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and church, and his concern and support for those who worked for, and with, him.
Friends will be received 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
A memorial service celebrating Ken's life will be officiated by Rev. Pat Weatherwax at First Presbyterian Church 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016. Inurnment will be held at his family's plot at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn, Pennsylvania.
