Lee Jeffrey McKay, 62, of Middleburg, Florida went to be with our Lord on October 1, 2017.
He passed from traumatic brain injuries resulting from an accident in Florida. Lee was born in Battle Creek on February 7, 1955. He attended the Pennfield School System graduating in 1973. He attended Central Michigan University, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor's in Music Education. He moved in 1998 to the Jacksonville, Florida area.
Lee worked for Ferree Music in 1972-1973, SNB Bank and Trust from 1973 to 1981, substituted at WK Kellogg Junior High and did art sales for Great Lakes Galleries from 1981-1998.
He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia through CMU. Lee was Stage Manager and member of the Board of Directors for Battle Creek Community Concert Association from 1982-1997.
He was a founding member of the Centerline Gun Club and a Life member of the Okoboji Indian trapshooting association. He enjoyed photography, trapshooting, tennis, motorcycle riding, working with clocks and watches as well as intricate bead work.
Lee is survived by his wife of 39 years Susan Beth (Walkotten), brother George E. McKay, Jr., sisters Carol A. Schelb, and Margaret A. McKay, and her husband Lawrence Israel, Richard and Judy Walkotten, Dr. Ruth A Walkotten, D.O., James and Jean Schuitman, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother Helen Louise (Lee) McKay, father George E. McKay, Sr., and a brother Gordon L. McKay.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Battle Creek, where the family will receive friends the hour prior to services. Interment will be at Battle Creek Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Florida.
