Leonard Arthur Pope, 88, died on Friday April 2, 2021 at Lakeview Assisted Living, where he had been a resident since 2017. Leonard was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Leonard Arthur Pope was born in Battle Creek, Michigan as the only son of Charlotte and Leonard Otis Pope. After graduating from Battle Creek Central High School, he joined the Marine Corps and fought honorably in the Korean War. During his military service in Japan, he met his wife Hamako, who would later become Treasa Pope. Upon their return to the United States, they built their home in Battle Creek, where they proudly raised four children. Leonard and Treasa were married for 63 years.

Leonard was a prominent member of the Battle Creek community. He worked at Kellogg's for 45 years and was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. He also drove school buses for both Harper Creek and Springfield school districts. In his retirement, he greeted guests at Meijer with his friendly smile. He attended North Avenue Church of God.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Charlotte, and his wife, Treasa. He is survived by his son James and his daughters Elaine, Noryne, and Linda; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

A Private memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, officiated by Rev. James L. Sparks, with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps.
