Linda Diane (Hammond) Elliott, 73, of Battle Creek, Michigan died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Bronson Battle Creek with her family at her side.
Linda was born on January 3, 1950, in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Harley and Maxine (Reynolds) Hammond. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1968 graduate of Lakeview High School. She was employed part-time when her children were in school, in the offices at the Battle Creek Fire Department, Simoni & Associates and Battle Creek Professional Bureau. She was a good homemaker, always taking care of her husband and family.
On February 15, 1969, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Linda D. Hammond married William Henry Elliott, III, the boy who grew up a couple doors down the street from her childhood home. Surviving are her husband, Bill; son, William H. “Bill” (Brenda) Elliott, IV of Battle Creek; daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Griffin of Lakewood, CO; four grandchildren, William S. Elliott-Wiley, V, Hailey Anderson, Jenna Elliott, Lilly Elliott; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Sally) Hammond of Marshall; two sisters, Doris (Gary) Hubbard, Barbara (Jeff) Shouldice and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Maxine.
Linda was a good golfer and bowled in a league with her husband. She was an avid reader and donated books when she was done with them. She enjoyed playing solitaire and purchased a computer to do just that. Linda will be remembered for her quick wit and deep love for her grandchildren.
Linda’s celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, October 31, starting with a viewing at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2055 E. Columbia Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49014, followed by a service officiated by Reverend Kjersten Sullivan at 12:00pm. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/trinity.church.581/ Luncheon to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
