Lois Marie (Tefertiller) Mabus, 84, of Battle Creek died peacefully at home on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Lois was born August 30, 1939, in Lamar, Colorado to William Edwin and Geneva Ollie (Eddleman) Tefertiller. She grew up in Southeast Colorado and was a 1956 graduate of Monument Colorado High School. Lois was employed with Good Samaritan Hospice Care for ten years as the executive office manager.
Lois Marie Tefertiller was united in marriage to Floyd “Art” Mabus on May 26, 1957, at Monument, Colorado. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Art on August 1, 2019. Surviving are her children, Stacy (Jose) Caballero, Christine (Lonnie) McGlothen, Brenda Kirk; grandchildren, Emily, Joel, Evan, Michelle, Amy, Ryan, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Valentina, Zaylee, Isaiah, Trey, Grayson and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband, Lois was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Gary, Gene, and Bill.
Lois was a 56-year member of Maple Methodist Church and served as their Treasurer, and was active in the Women's Support Group. She was an accomplished seamstress making Halloween costumes for all her family, and enjoyed knitting and other crafts. Other favorite pastimes were doing puzzles, playing cards, reading, solving crossword puzzles, vegetable & flower gardening and bird watching. She loved family get-togethers and holiday gatherings. She also loved sharing her baking and cooking skills with her family. She was generous, curious, direct, matter of fact, cheerful and always had a "can-do" attitude. She was always creative, organized, knew what she wanted and could be stubborn too. Her intense love of family, church members, friends and neighbors was quietly expressed in person, but very evident in her own card and phone ministry.
Friends will be received 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where a service to celebrate Lois’ life will be officiated by Pastor Linda Stoddard at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023.
