Louis Anson Ramsdell, 80, of Battle Creek, Michigan died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Louis was born July 24, 1944, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Howard and Mildred Pauline (Wyble) Ramsdell. He grew up in the Climax-Scotts area and graduated from Climax High School. Louis honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 - 1970 at Fort Monmouth, NJ and worked in the hospital as a pharmacist. Louis graduated as a Pharmacist from Ferris State University. During his career, he was employed at the former Rexall Pharmacy in Urbandale, at the former Muir’s Drug Store in the Columbia Plaza and at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Marshall. Louis Anson Ramsdell and Joyce Eileen Strole were united in marriage on July 18, 1969, in New Jersey, while he was serving in the military. Surviving are three daughters, Susan (Roger) Saylor of The Villages, FL, Peggy Sue (John) Gossner of Battle Creek, Cari (Brian) Bevins of Eaton Rapids; five grandchildren, Derek (Jessica) Elizondo, Elaina (Justin Tindol) Elizondo, Dustin (Macy) Bevins, Zachary Bevins, Madison Bevins; two great grandchildren, Payton and Parker Elizondo and several nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce on April 11, 2018; his parents, Howard and Mildred; two sisters, Joan Ramsdell and Judy Newmeyer; and a brother, David Ramsdell.
Louis loved classic cars, sports cards, Beanie Babies, and lots of other paraphernalia. He loved sports, played catcher on the Ferris State College Baseball Team; and was an avid fan of U of M, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and golf fan. Louis played in the Tuesday night league at Binder Park Golf for years. He bowled a 299 game and still has the one pin that eluded him. Family was always first. He would do anything to help anyone. He was always lending a helping hand, donating food to the poor, giving sound advice to all his kids/grandkids. He was a wiz with numbers and could figure out anything in seconds!
