Marcia Jane (Hays) Kuepfer of Battle Creek, MI

Marcia, age 87, died Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019 at Pennfield Premier Living of Battle Creek.

Marcia, the daughter of James and Pearl (Stoner) Hays, was born in Canton, OH on July 12, 1931 and was a 1949 graduate of Lehman High School of Canton. She had been employed with Ohio Bell Telephone Company before moving to this area in 1961. Marcia was then employed as a Secretary at Gull Lake High School, Richland, retiring in 1994 after 15 years of faithful service. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and its choir and had been a 4H leader in Barry County. Marcia was very community minded by her work at the Cheff Center in Augusta; teaching oil painting for the Lakeview Adult Education Class; and by being a member of the JC's Auxiliary and the Morning Musicals. When she had time on her own, she enjoyed animals, especially bird watching, water color painting and collecting lighthouses.

Marcia was united in marriage to Matthew C. "Charlie" Kuepfer in Canton on June 7th, 1953 . Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 8, 2003. Surviving are two daughters, Kristi L. (Mike) Bowman of Augusta, MI and Teri J. (Buster) Brown of Hudson, NY; son, David M. (Katie) Kuepfer of Buena Vista , CO; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marcia was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Hays.

The Graveside Service to celebrate Marcia's life will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with Rev. Scott Southerland, Chaplain of Heartland Hospice, officiating. Marcia's family will greet friends on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
