Marga Tilly (Maischein) Goddard, 89, died Friday morning, June 30, 2017, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born December 19, 1927, in Frankfurt, West Germany and was an only child of Eleonore H. Andres.
A very, brave young girl, Marga was 19 when she came to the United States with Master Sergeant Winfred B. Goddard, Sr.; they were married on July 16, 1947 in Chicago, IL; they moved to Battle Creek, MI in 1949 and she became a U.S. citizen in 1951.
Marga worked a short time for the Kellogg Company and Cellofoil. She worked 10 years as a loyal employee in the produce department of Cut Rate Supermarket.
Marga was a spunky 95 pound, one of a kind woman with a dry sense of humor. Through the years she had many very good friends. Marga rarely complained about anything. She liked being at the Medical Care facility because "they fed her 3 meals a day and all the coffee she could drink." Her favorite food was a McDonalds cheeseburger meal with a chocolate shake.
Marga is survived by two sons, Winfred B. (Sue) Goddard, Jr., and Harry W. (Linda) Goddard and one daughter, Harriett Wilbrandt. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Marga was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Sr. in 1995. Marga will truly be missed by many!
The Graveside Service to celebrate Marga's life will be held on Friday, July 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek with Rev. Travis Davis, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marga's honor may be directed to the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Marga's family with her arrangements.
