Mary Ellen Yeager, 78, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
She was born November 10, 1934 in Southfield, MI, the daughter of Francis Vern & Ada Lucille (Campbell) Dowling. She has been a Battle Creek resident since age 4 and was a 1954 graduate of St. Philip Catholic High School. She worked at Shrank's Cafeteria several times from 1955 â 1986.
Mary was formerly married to Paul V. Dunn and later to William W. Yeager. Surviving are two daughters,
Lisa M. (Gary) Price of Battle Creek & Rita A. (Rod) Yaudes of Union, SC; and five grandchildren, Burles, Stacey, Ashleigh, Jenna and Christian. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and both of her former husbands.
Mary was a former member of St Philip Catholic Church. She lived at Cherry Hill Manor for many years, where she was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels, treasurer of the Cherry Hill Manor Association and active there in other Association duties. Later, while living at Springview Towers, she baked cookies for their bake sales. Mary was a yearly volunteer bell-ringer for the Salvation Army and a former volunteer at "Pegasus" and "Hair", both former drug and substance abuse centers in Battle Creek. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Nascar Racing, television movies and reading. She had a great sense of humor and was willing to stand up for what she believed or share her opinions with you.
Private visitation and services were held for the family at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral. Interment was held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
