Michael A. Moon "Moonie", age 68, of Bellevue passed away suddenly on April 29, 2019. He fought Prostate Cancer for over 10 years but is now at Peace with the Lord. Mike was born in Battle Creek on September 27, 1950 to Kenneth and Antoinette Moon and graduated Valedictorian in 1968 from Bellevue High School. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Michigan and joined the Army Reserves in 1970. For 6 years he served active duty at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, performing radar maintenance, and was honorably discharged in 1976. Michael then completed his education, graduating from KCC with a degree in electronics.Â
Moonie was a "jack of all trades" and a Master electrician for 40 years. He worked at Clark Equipment for 10 years and retired from the Battle Creek Federal Center in 2015 after 35 years of service as an electrician and elevator repair specialist.Â
Moonie loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing, driving his Kubota tractor and giving his five grandkids rides on his pride, the "party wagon." He and his sons built the wagon and painted it the grandkids favorite colors, taking them on numerous wagon rides. Fun times!! Affectionately known as "Poppy" to his grandkids and "Moonie" to everyone else.Â
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Janet, of 45 years; his sons, Timothy (Stacie) Moon and Ryan (Amanda) Moon; his five grandchildren, Eliza, Logan, Madelyn, Isadora and Eliana Moon; his brother, Daniel Moon; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
