Michael A. Tobias

Michael A. Tobias, 70, of Battle Creek, died May 23, 2016 with his family by his side. Michael was born July 8, 1945 in Battle Creek to Arthur and Helen (Babic) Tobias. He worked for the VA, Union Pump and at the Urbandale Bar.

Michael loved golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, working on cars and playing pool. But most of all, Michael's main passion was being a father and grandfather. He was a loving son, taking care of his mother for over 20 years.

Michael is survived by his four daughters, Michele Tobias, Merry Tobias, Angela (Kevin) Barnaby and Jessica (Steven) Reppel; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Denise Cipcic and Cherrie Nichols; two brothers, Terry Tobias and David (Tonya) Tobias; his best friend of 45 years, Jim Carl; his golfing partner, Jeff Carl, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Michael Lee Tobias; a daughter, Desa Ann VanVleet-Mills and a great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Marie Stairs.

Funeral services to celebrate Michael's life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
