Michel Roy Brown

Michel "Mike" Roy Brown, 71 of Battle Creek died at home with his family at his side on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Mike was born April 6, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Charles Archer and Doris Mildred (Walker) Brown. He grew up in the Battle Creek area and attended Olivet High School. At the age of 16, Mike enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country as a mechanic in Korea. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. Mike loved auto mechanics; repairing, restoring, and driving all types of vehicles. Mike owned and operated Nunn's Repair on Verona Road until its closing in 1998. He was employed at several area businesses throughout his lifetime, but they always involved driving or repairing vehicles of some sort, semi-trucks for Behnke's, tow trucks for multiple towing companies; asphalt trucks for AIM asphalt; transporting new vehicles for Freedom Motors and an owner-operator for Jayco Travel Trailers delivering all over the country, including Alaska.

Mike was formerly married to Dawn Marie Carr (deceased) and Carol Ann Rarick. Mike was involved with Lorraine Marie Eggleston since 1996, resulting in marriage on August 18, 2004. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; five children, Jeffrey Brown, Bryan (Catie) Brown, Nicholas Brown, Mikayla Brown, and Tyler Brown all of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; three siblings, Juanita "Skeeter" (Steve) Doty and Tyria (Ernie Burress) Brown all of Battle Creek and Mark (Vicky) Brown of Houghton Lake, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Rocky Brown and a stepdaughter, Shari Lyn Doonan.

Mike was a family man, he loved his children and enjoyed cheering for and participating in their activities, watching band and choir performances; cheering for football, baseball, soccer, and swimming events; and participating in pick up tackle football games. Mike enjoyed classic car shows and swap meets, with a special love for 1966 GTOs. He was an avid motorcyclist and cycled all over the USA with friends and family. In retirement, he began fishing with his father-in-law and it evolved into a yearly salmon fishing trip with his father-in-law and daughter. He also loved to just jump in his RV and start a new adventure.
Interment with full military honors presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
