Paul Simpson Jordan, 91, of Battle Creek passed away Monday, February 17, 2025.
Paul was born February 27, 1933, to Emma Ruth and James R. Jordan and was raised on a farm. He attended a one-room school (Lincoln) and then attended Bellevue School. For two summers, he attended school in the mornings and worked at Mell’s Grocery Store in the evenings.
He enlisted in the Air Force in July of 1953. He was sent to Sampson Air Force Base, Geneva, New York for Basic; then Lowery AFB in Denver, Colorado; Packs AFB in California; 45 TAC Recon in Korea; to Misawa, Japan; and finally, to Photo Operation in Orlando, Florida. He was discharged in 1957.
He was united in marriage Beulah Mae “Bea” Goins in Orlando in 1957, and they were married 67 years. Paul returned to Battle Creek to work for Kellogg’s, where he remained for 40 years until retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Kellogg’s 25 Year Club. He was also a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges. He and his wife spent many hours doing dances on roller skates. He was an excellent dancer and enjoyed country music. He lived an active life with many interests including hunting, bowling, playing football and baseball, and cheering on the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
Paul had a large family. Preceding him in death are his parents, Emma Ruth and James Jordan; son Steven Jordan; sisters, Carolyn Sutton, Morene Huggett, Janet McNutt; brothers, Bob Jordan, David Jordan and Emmett Jordan. He is survived by his wife Bea Jordan; daughter Patricia (Jerry) Slucher; grandchildren, Jonathan Bucher and Kenzie (Fred) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Diana and Mason Rogers; brother Donald (Laura) Jordan; sisters, Elvene (Ron) Hoogakker, Helen Binkowski and Jean (Tom) Reid.
A funeral service will be held to honor Paul at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Paul was a soft-spoken, humble man and was well-loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed greatly.
