Pauline M. (Morrison) Carl

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Pauline M. (Morrison) Carl, age 95, of Battle Creek announces the passing of our family matriarch who died on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

She was born October 9, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan to Norman A. and Mary C. (Weiland) Morrison. Pauline grew up in St. Charles and was a graduate of St. Charles High School. She resided in Battle Creek since 1940. Pauline retired from the Quality Control Department at the Kellogg Company in 1983 after 35 years. She was a formidable floor lady and was nicknamed "Mother Superior".

Pauline was united in marriage to Thomas L. Carl on May 6, 1939 in Saginaw. Sadly, Tom preceded her in death on July 13, 1994. Surviving are a daughter, Diane Tanner of Battle Creek; four sons, James C. (Nancy) Carl of Nashville, Donald D. Carl of Battle Creek, R. Richard (Brenda) Carl of Kalamazoo, and Rodney M. (Patricia) Carl of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren, Marjorie Ochoa, James Carl, Debra Carl, David (Jennifer) Carl, Robert (Carrie) Carl, Renee (Richard) Reeves, Rebecca (Victor) Quirino, Todd (Brenda) Carl, , Chad Leonard and Troy Carl; two daughters-in-law, Darlene Carl of Battle Creek and Violet Carl of Richland; 24 great-grandchildren; ten great great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores McLellan of Saginaw; a brother, Michael J. In addition to her husband, Pauline was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas N. Carl and William M. Carl; a son-in-law, Jim Tanner; a granddaughter, Kathleen D. Carl; three grandsons, Dean A. Carl, Ricky L. Carl and William M. Carl, II; a great-granddaughter, Sierra Leonard; and a brother, Harold A. Morrison.

Pauline was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, where she did Adorations for many years. She was also a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club, AARP, Chapter #29 Civilian Conservation Corp of Grand Rapids and the Northside Snowmobile Club. After her retirement she made several quilts. Pauline enjoyed camping and being up north in Mecosta County. She loved spending time with her family. Pauline will be remembered as a woman with an easy contagious laugh, who loved people, was known as "everybody's grandmother" and with a kitchen that was always open to all.
