Randal “Randy” Martin, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on January 23, 2025 at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Greg and Garry. He is survived by his brother, Rob (Michelle) Martin of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Jan Martin of Otsego; two special aunts, Jean (Utt) Barringer of Kalamazoo and Lois Martin of Mattawan; two nieces, four nephews, four great-nephews, along with many close cousins.
Randy was born in Kalamazoo on February 1, 1960, the third of four sons to Don and Joan (Utt) Martin. He graduated from Portage Central High School in 1978, and following his graduation from Central Michigan University with a degree in Health Fitness and Promotion, Randy worked at various area companies in sales, marketing, care taking and physical therapy during his career.
Randy loved to read and was an avid Marvel Comic Book collector for more than 55 years and enjoyed attending comic book convention events for many years. Randy had a passion for political debate and music with Jethro Tull being his favorite rock band. He attended numerous musical concerts throughout his lifetime.
Randy was also a huge sports fan with the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, University of Michigan, Green Bay Packers, and Los Angeles Rams being amongst his favorite teams. He also loved attending his family’s get-togethers including sporting events whenever he could. He was a great man with an eccentric personality and a huge heart. It could be said that he had a wealth of knowledge on many different topics and would do anything he could to help someone in need.
A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, 9170 East D Ave in Richland, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The service will be Live-streamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/4876008. Inurnment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. A luncheon will follow at the First Presbyterian Church of Richland.
