Raymond E. Latowski of Battle Creek, MI

Ray, 89, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

Ray, the son of John and Hattie (Slowikowski) Latowski, was born in Harvey, Illinois. Ray's high-school sweetheart and wife Mary Ann (Conroy), brother Anthony Latowski, and sister Eleanor Summers preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Kary (Lyle) Lucas, Linda Fields, Julie (David) Priebe, and Tracy (Joseph) Keegan; his grandchildren Teasha (Kevin) Schmidt, Brooke (Andre) and Kyle (Megan) Sweet, Matthew (Caitlyn), Jason (Leslie), and Becky (John) Fields, and Miranda, Mike, and Brad (Lauren) Priebe, and Claire Keegan; and great-grandchildren Ellah, Garrison, Carsen, and Calvin Fields, Jean-Marie Garon, Demetra and Eli Priebe, Octavia and Ivan Schmidt, and Cora Sweet; and his brothers Lawrence (Mary) and Daniel (Laura) Latowski.

Ray spent most of his career in Battle Creek where he co-owned a hobby shop and later worked at Post and Clark Equipment. During the Korean War, Ray was an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He later graduated from Michigan State University where he studied packaging engineering. He was close with his daughters and never missed an opportunity to get a picture with all four of them. Ray was a true craftsman who built and flew model airplanes. He also designed his own train layouts and sometimes even let his grandchildren and great grandchildren take the controls! He was a devout Catholic who loved big family parties, history, old western movies, and watching Disney movies with his grandkids.

Due to the pandemic, a private family mass will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ray's honor may be directed to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages and favorite memories of Ray may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
