Renee Lynn Stockman

Renee Lynn Stockman, 55, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 24, 2025 after losing her battle with cancer. 

Renee was born May 12, 1969, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of James L. and Jaqueline K. (Chaney) Stockman. She was raised in Battle Creek and attended various local schools, ultimately earning her diploma in 1994. 

Renee was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister Sarah J. Drake. Surviving are her two sons, Justin Stockman, Nicholas Barnard; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Stockman; three sisters, Kimberly Fowler, Jeanette Lewis, Mary Whitman; two brothers, Bryan Stockman, Matthew Tousey. Her bonus family includes a son Joseph O’Dowd-Jackson and his children; a daughter Alisha Shuford and her children; a granddaughter Cierra Liens. 

In her working life she took positions as a teller for Mutual Savings Bank, a leasing agent at Wyndtree Apartments and assistant manager of Arlene’s Truck Stop. She also operated her own cleaning business and provided services to elderly clients. 

In her free time she was an avid reader and preferred novels by JD Robb. She loved solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Her magical ability to solve puzzles on Wheel of Fortune was amazing and frustrating. Cooking was her favorite way to show love for the people around her. Music had a heavy influence in her life and her favorite artists spanned many genres. She spent countless hours watching football cheering for her NY Giants.

She will be remembered for her openness which enabled her to make fast friends. Her big personality meant you could count on her for a good laugh. She was an example of strength and tenacity, caring and empathy. Her unconditional love served as a guidepost for those feeling lost or misplaced. She will be dearly missed. 

Renee’s family will receive friends Monday, February 10, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home, where a service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30. Personal messages for her family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
