Eric T. “Rick” Dunithan, 78, of Augusta, died March 22, 2023. Rick was born November 10, 1944 in Augusta to Thomas and Opal (Wright) Dunithan. He graduated high school and briefly worked for Holroyd Construction before taking a position with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department. He was a sheriff deputy for the county for 34 years, retiring in 2007.

Rick enjoyed fishing, woodworking, golfing and reading books. He especially loved playing cards and gambling at the casino.

Rick married the former Dorothy Garrett on April 4, 1964. She sadly proceeded him in death in 2018. He is also proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, Rose, Linda and Dee and two brothers, Ross and Bob (Mary).

Rick is survived by two daughters, Jean Dunithan and Deborah (Mark) Makowski; a son, Thomas (Dawn) Dunithan; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Ruhstorfer, Wanda Hartman, Garry Dunithan, Vicki Lewis, Randy Dunithan and Duane Rock; a sister-in-law, Gail Dunithan and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Augusta VFW Post #7956. A private interment was held at Augusta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Honor Guard, 1500 Lamont, Kalamazoo, MI 49048 or the Augusta VFW Post #7956, 13549 W M-96, Augusta, MI 49012.
