Robert Danny "Dan" Daniels

Robert Danny “Dan” Daniels, age 78 of Richland passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was born in Battle Creek on November 29, 1946, the son of the late Edward and Roberta (Harker) Daniels. Dan then lived in California for a few years where he graduated High School. He faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. and retired after 40 years working for the Grand Trunk Railways as a Locomotive Engineer.

Dan was a devoted husband to Kathy; proud father to Visey, Vickie (Jamie), and Becky; and loving stepfather to Kelly, Damien, Lauren, and Erin. He cherished his role as a grandfather to 12 grandchildren, Samantha, Julia, Savannah, Evie, Ellie, Summer, Kyler, Rilee, Thomas, Matilda, Patrick, and Franklin; and was blessed with a great-granddaughter. Dan was a dear brother to Gloria (Dennis) and Ron (Dee), and a beloved uncle to their children. He was sadly preceded in death by his grandson, Vinny Fracassi.

Dan had a great interest in cars, with the Corvette being his favorite and first car (with many more to follow)! He was a member of the Battle Creek Corvette club for many years. He knew everything worth knowing about cars and their engines. After retirement, Dan worked part-time at Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek maintaining their vehicles. A job he loved. Dan was a member of the American Legion, The Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He owned a Yamaha Motor Cycle and enjoyed annual trips with a great group of friends, touring various places in America. Dan spent several months of Michigan Winters in Florida and some of the Caribbean Islands.

Dan’s kindness, love, humor, and unwavering presence will forever be held in the hearts of his family and friends.

A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Richland Chapel 9170 East D. Avenue (M-89) Richland, MI 49083. The service will be Live-Streamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/4949049. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Shrine Hospitals for Children or else think of Dan and do a special act of kindness for a stranger, would be appreciated.
