Robert M. Gault, Sr., 99, of Battle Creek died at Calhoun County Medical Facility on Monday, October 13, 2014.
Robert was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 10, 1914, to Carl and Edith (Porter) Gault. He grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1933 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He attended the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the golf team. Robert honorably served in the U.S. Air Force, 1942-45, during WWII. He was employed as a salesman for the George S. May Company, retiring in 1974.
Robert married the former Betty Joy Dullam on October 19, 1940 in Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by Betty, his wife of 66 years on April 22, 2006. Surviving are his son, Robert M. Gault., Jr. of Battle Creek; two daughters, Connie (Douglas) Huxmann of Battle Creek and Barbara (Richard Vasy) Wimbush of Chicago, IL; a niece Judith Andrews and nephew, Robert Dullam and their families.
Robert loved golfing, was an outstanding golfer and was a former member of Riverside, Battle Creek, and Marywood Country Clubs. He enjoyed watching U of M Football and the Detroit Tigers. He especially enjoyed his pets, most recently his dogs, Copper and Jack and cat, Tiger.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014.
