Robert H. "Bob" Landers, age 92, of Battle Creek died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Laurels of Bedford. He was born in Battle Creek on July 17, 1927, the son of Thelma (Ballard) Bignell. Bob was raised in Bedford and graduated from Hickory Corners School. He then served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1945 to 1946.
Bob worked in Virginia and Florida for CC. Bowman & Co. as a truck driver, and also worked for Schneider Transport and Behnke Co. Later he worked for Braetec Inc. and as a driver for Heritage Chevrolet.
Bob married Brenda (Clutter-Woods) Mac Pherson in Battle Creek on February 14, 1997; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Joyce Criswell of Nebraska, and Robin Pappe of Arizona; step-children, David MacPherson, Virginia Williams, Beckie MacPherson, and Micki MacPherson, all of Battle Creek; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren & step-great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma; sister, Daryl Rout, step-daughter, Melissa Hughes; step-granddaughter, Angelina MacPherson; a special person in his life, his uncle, Donald Ballard.
Bob attended Memorial Spiritual Church and most Recently First Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the Battle Creek Fraternal Order of Eagles #299, and was formerly a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge, P.N.A., and the American Legion Post in Lansing. Bob enjoyed camping, NASCAR racing, and bowling.
Due to recent government regulations, a memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather again.
