Robert I. Price

Robert “Bob” Irwin Price, age 91, of Battle Creek passed away at home on Sunday March 9, 2025. Bob was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 19, 1934, the son of Ben and Mabel (Ingram) Price. He enlisted in the US Army in 1953 and served as a tank crew member until his discharge in 1957. Upon returning to Michigan, Bob worked at several jobs in order to put food on the table until he got hired at Kellogg’s from which he retired as a millwright supervisor. Bob enjoyed bowling, golf, woodworking and riding his motorcycle until his vision told him it was time to give them up.

Bob married the “Love of His Life”, Mary Lou Hamilton in Battle Creek on October 19, 1953; she sadly preceded him in death on January 30, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne (Jim) Plane, of Battle Creek; his sons, Robert A. Price of Battle Creek and Ronald (Mary) Price of Rutherfordton, NC; his grand-children, Veronica Baker, Nicolas (Aisha) Price, Nathan Price, and Jennifer Hackney; sisters; Gloria Hill and Linda Lerke, both of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren, Maeson Price, Chrishele Davenport, Christian Davenport, Lillian Price, Ayden Hackney, Kyle Hackney, Christopher Hackney, Ayden Hackney and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lee, Bennie, Kenneth and Paul Price; and sisters, Beverly Taylor, Joan Hawkins, and Lois Price.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where services to celebrate Bob’s life will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, March 14, 2025. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society or to the Dementia Society of America.
