Robert Walter Schmock, 73, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Laurels of Bedford, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Robert was born March 4, 1946 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Walter and Evelyn Mae (White) Schmock. He was raised in Battle Creek and was a 1964 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. After high school Robert attended trade school and lived in California for a while. When Robert returned to Battle Creek he was employed as a forklift operator for Clark Equipment Company until they closed. He was then employed by Eaton Corporation in Marshall as a forklift operator, and an assembler and work in several other areas, until his health declined and he had to take a disability retirement.
Surviving are his daughter, Staci (Jay) Vought of Rochester Hills, MI; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jack Vought; his sister, Faith Naesset of Battle Creek; and a nephew, Michael Naesset. Robert was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters; Gay LaWynn Schmock and Karen Schmock.
Robert loved antique cars, going to car shows and worked hard restoring a Model A Ford. He loved the outdoors, and the smell of pine trees, canoeing with his family and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren, who he adored. Bob had a strange, quirky personality, always had a smile and loved to tease people and make them laugh. Robert will always be remembered as caring for others.
A celebration of life will be held December 8th, 2019 from 11:00 to 2:00 at Cornwell's Turkeyville, 18935 15 1/2 Mile Rd, Marshall MI 49068.
