Roger Alden Spriggel, 82, passed away on January 26, 2025 at home from complications of dementia. Roger was born on May 28, 1942, in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Horatio and Marietta (Payn) Spriggel and brother Kenneth A. Spriggel.

When Roger graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1960, he joined the Airforce. He was stationed in England and was able to travel around Europe on weekends and during vacation leave. After 4 and a half years in the air force, Roger attended Parks College, St. Louis, Missouri and graduated with an aeronautical administration degree in 1968. Then he was hired at the Defense Logistics Agency in Battle Creek, Mi as a data administrator.

Taking a short break from DLA he attended Western Michigan University and earned an A & P license to work on small airplane engines. He then worked at Brooks Field airport in Marshall, MI for a short time. After returning to DLA, he finished his 30-year career at the Federal Center in Battle Creek, retiring in 2001.

When he wasn’t working or videotaping an activity for his kids, Roger enjoyed flying his airplane, traveling in his RV, and spending time on his 150 acres. At various times he owned a Tri-Pacer, Cessna 172, and was part owner of a twin-engine Duchess Beechcraft. He loved to travel by RV for family trips to Disney World, out West and Northern Michigan. In 1981, he started farming corn and soybeans. He also spent time clearing walking paths in the woods and spending time on the pond. All of these hobbies have allowed for Roger to live a life full of experiences and eventful memories.

Roger is survived by his spouse, Sharon (Horsman) Spriggel. They were married on November 28, 1969, and have enjoyed 55 years together. He is also survived by sons, Jason Spriggel of Grand Rapids, MI, Kevin (Monica) Spriggel of Chicago, IL; daughter, Jamie (Robert) Bush of Pennfield, MI; sister, Patricia Spriggel of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Kaylee Spriggel, Rohan Spriggel, Sana Spriggel, Wyatt Bush, Kit Bush.
