Ronald Steven "Ron" Hancock of Richland, MI
Ron, age 67, died unexpectedly Monday morning, February 23, 2015 at his residence.
Ron, the son of Coy and Dorothy (DeRyke) Hancock, was born on June 4, 1947 in Kalamazoo, MI; was a lifetime area resident and a 1965 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He retired in 2004 after 36 years of faithful service for Consumers Energy as a Substation Operator. Ron enjoyed camping, woodworking and watching the Detroit Lions, for better or worse. His true passion in life was his family, sharing time with them and giving them direction when needed.
Ron was united in marriage to the "Love of his Life," the former Cheryl Lee Nagel on May 27, 1967 in Kalamazoo. Surviving is his wife of 47+ years, Cheryl; his three daughters, Sherri L. (Jeff) Simmons and Jennifer R. (Dan) Palmatier, both of Richland and Amy J. (Mark) Root of Battle Creek, MI and by his seven precious grandchildren, Dayton, Austin and Reed Simmons, Tyler and Brianna Root and Jacob and Kaitlyn Palmatier. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron's family will greet friends on Thursday, February 26th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89). A Private, Family service will be held with Rev. Blaine Farr of Gracespring Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Plainwell, MI.
