Rose Mary Newman, 56, of Battle Creek went to be with her Lord & Savior on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
She was born November 7, 1960 in Albion, Michigan to Russell Daniel and Mary Ethel (Gaddis) Blackman, Sr. Rose grew up in Albion and attended Albion High School. She was employed for Walker's Mufflers in Marshall; Horrock's in Battle Creek; Citgo and Big Lots.
Rose was united in marriage to Bob Allen Newman on February 11, 1999 at Zion Christian Assembly in Battle Creek, Michigan. Sadly Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on June 15, 2007. Surviving are her son, Rodrico S. (Tiffany) Blackman, Sr. of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Rodrico S. Blackman, II, Analiyah R.T. Blackman, Jonathan R. Blackman, Kendall E. Blackman; four sisters, Barbara Gaddis of Albion, Roslyn (Robert) Washington of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Blenda Blackman of Maui, Hawaii, Debbie (Walter) Stokes of Albion; a brother, Russell D. (Kelly) Blackman of Surprise, Arizona and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband, Rose was also preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Walter Stokes, III and a niece, Laquana Jackson.
Rose was a member of True Vine Living Covenant. She enjoyed knitting, drawing, writing, poetry, and especially decorating. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Bobby. Rose will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, supportive wife and sister, prayer warrior, and faith filled follower of Jesus Christ. She will be missed but her true home is in heaven.
A home going to celebrate Rose's life will be officiated by Pastor Scott Rogers at Victory Life Church, 6892 D Drive North, Battle Creek, MI 49014 at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017.
