Rosemary Ann (Blume) "Rosie" Beasley of Springfield, MI
Rosie, age 82, died Thursday morning, August 17, 2017 at Evergreen Manor of Battle Creek, MI, following a lengthy illness and with her loving family at her side.
Rosie, the daughter of August and Martha (Gramelspacher) Blume, was born in Huntingburg, IN on August 2, 1935; was a 1953 graduate of St. Paul High School of Marion, IN; attended Marion College for a year and moved to this area in 1961. She had been employed at Transamerica Insurance Company and with the Calhoun Child Abuse -Neglect Prevention Council for 13 years. Rosie was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, Battle Creek and had taught CCD Class for many years served as Eucharistic Minister and as Secretary in the Church Rectory. Rosie had several hobbies such as solving crossword puzzles, achieving Queen of Cribbage and was extremely proud of becoming a Master Gardener from Michigan State University. She was well known for her captivating smile and beautiful twinkling blue eyes.
Rosie was united in marriage to the "Love of her Life," Eugene Edward Beasley in St. Paul Catholic Church of Marion, IN on August 18, 1956. Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Gene; children, Carole (Bob) Cornwell of Jamestown, OH, Carl Beasley of Marshall, MI, Angela Beasley of Baltimore, MD, Martha "Marti" (Patrick) Samsel of Mason, MI; and Paul (Dagmar) Beasley of Denver, CO; seven precious grandchildren Christina (Randy) Sheaff, Ryan (Dilnavaz Cama) Cornwell, Cameron (Katlyn) Samsel, Elizabeth Samsel, Ian Samsel, Conner Beasley and Sean Beasley; five great-grandchildren, Garrison, Madeline and Emery Sheaff, Zachary Samsel and Justin Brooks; sister, Nancy Pfeiffer and brother John (Carol) Blume as well as several nieces and nephews. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph Beasley on December 28, 1995 and siblings Joan and Jack Bricker, Harvey Pfeiffer and Tom Blume.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 92 Capital Avenue, NE, with Father John D. Fleckenstein, Celebrant. Rosie's life celebration will continue immediately following the Mass with a time of fellowship and a luncheon in the St. Philip Parish Center. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Rosie's family will greet friends on Monday, August 21stfrom 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosie's honor may be directed to Child-Abuse Prevention Fund Endowment for Calhoun County at:
