Ruth N. Richman, age 96, of Battle Creek, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013.
She was born July 9, 1916 in Battle Creek to Herman and Elsie (Hort) Knopp. Ruth was a 1935 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary in various local offices, as well as Ft. Custer Fiscal Department, during the War in 1941. In 1981, she retired from Central Tool & Supply.
Ruth married Charles J. Richman October 4, 1942 in Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on June 4, 1991; by a granddaughter, Jodi Lyn Troxel and two son-in-laws, Larry Troxel and Larry Hack. Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Troxel of Battle Creek, MI, Cheryl (David) Lippard of Bristol, IL and Barbara Hack of Charlotte, MI; grandchildren, Karla Rohrbacher Green, Ronna (Kevin) Jenkins, Trevor Hack, Crystal Forlano, Danielle (Jonathan) Feldman, Grant (Callie) Lippard, Wendy Lippard, Suzette (Shannon) Brown, Todd (Carol) Lippard and Kelli Lippard; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as assistant treasurer for 38 years. In recent years, she attended and was active at Calvary Baptist Church. Ruth was a member of the Clark Equipment Retirees Club. Her greatest joy was being with her family and she enjoyed music, traveling and the outdoors. Ruth spent many hours doing lawn work; and she enjoyed all sports, especially golf and bowling.
Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Tom Townsend 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Avenue N.E., Battle Creek, MI 49017.
