Sally Elizabeth Byrne of Kalamazoo, MI and formerly of Delton, MI
Sally, age 95, died Wednesday morning, September 22, 2021 at The Vineyards, Kalamazoo with her two daughters at her side.
Sally was born in Kalamazoo on May 18, 1926; was a 1944 graduate of Galesburg High School and was a lifetime area resident.
She retired in 1991 after 30+ years of faithful service, finishing her tenure as the Supervisor of Transportation for the Delton Kellogg School System. Austin and Sally retired to Fort Myers, FL for a number of years and she returned to this area after Austin's death six years ago. Sally was a member of St. Timothy Episcopal Church of Richland, MI. Her range of interests were from golf, gardening, and painting to traveling. Sally particularly enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished needlework artist.
Sally was united in marriage to William A. "Austin" Byrne in May of 1974 at St. Timothy Episcopal Church and he sadly preceded her in death on January 29, 2014. Surviving are two loving daughters, Robin L. (Edward) Williams of Fremont, OH and Jan E. (Jeffrey) Johnson of Kalamazoo; her grandson, Todd E. (Dawn) Williams of Fremont, OH and two great grandsons, Trent E. and Tate E. Williams. Sally was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jill A. Gould of Richland, MI on March 14, 2012.
The memorial service to celebrate Sally's life will be held on Thursday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 9800 East BC Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 with Father Joel L. Turmo, Celebrant and Father Michael Wood of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Portage, MI, Assisting. Interment will follow in the Church's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 or to the Church (see address above). The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, is assisting Sally's family.
