Scott Franklin Jeffrey of Delton, MI
Scott, age 62, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, February 5, 2016 at The University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor following a brief illness with his family by his side.
Scott, the son of Jimmie and Helen (Harbour) Jeffrey, was born in Kalamazoo, MI on October 31, 1953 and was a lifetime area resident. He attended Gull Lake Schools as a child and later attended Western Military Academy of Alton, IL, graduating in 1971. He then began working at Fullers "Eaton" Corporation and later for his father's business, Jeffrey Electric, for a few years as an electrician. He retired in 2008 after 28 years of faithful service at FedEx as a Manager/Courier for both the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek offices. Scott was also the Co-Owner with his daughter, Jen of The Dock At Bayview, overlooking Gull Lake during his retirement. He enjoyed fishing at his residence on Crooked Lake in Delton with his good friend and neighbor, Lico. He also loved traveling with his family, especially to The Bahamas. Scott cherished family time with his girls especially for family cook-outs. He was also known for juggling many remodeling projects.
Scott is survived by his three precious daughters, Michelle M. (Jason) Thornburg of Wayland, MI, Jessica K. Jeffrey of Kalamazoo and Jennifer L. Jeffrey of Battle Creek; a grandson, Brandon S. Thornburg; his sister, Kristine (Jason) Barr of Richland and by his former wife and friend, Linda J. Gibson of Richland. He is also survived by an aunt, Pat Brigham and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathleen Ledbetter.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Scott's life will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), with the Rev. Robert G. Muirhead of Battle Creek, officiating. Scott's family will greet friends on Friday, February 19th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will continue Scott's life celebration immediately following the Service with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at The Dock At Bayview, 12504 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083.
