Scott Eric Stanard, age 40, of Bellevue, MI, died unexpectedly while vacationing at Panama City, Florida with his wife, April on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Scott, the son of George H. and Sandra R. (Bissett) Stanard, was born on September 16, 1972 in Kalamazoo, MI and was a lifetime area resident. He was an Elevator Operator for the past ten years at Ralston Foods of Battle Creek. Scott was the Vice President of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers Grain Millers International Union, Local # 66-G; the President of the Bellevue School Board and President of the Bellevue High School Athletic Boosters. He was the consummate "Sports Junkie" because he ate, drank and slept ALL sports, but his true passion was following the Ohio State Buckeyes.
On August 14, 1993 in Battle Creek, Scott was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former April Y. Babbitt and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter Kayla R.Y. Stanard and his son, Scott E. Stanard, II, both at home; his son, Ryan S. Cook of Battle Creek; his mother and step-father, Sandra (John) Eichenauer of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Judy Davidson and Tina Bortz, both of Kalamazoo; his brother, Ted (Kelly) Stanard of Lawrence, MI and a step-sister, Aimee Downing of Lowell, MI. Scott was preceded in death by his father, George in September of 1991.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Scott's life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek. A time of fellowship and a luncheon to continue Scott's life celebration will be at the Robin's Nest immediately following the committal service. Friends will be received on Friday, April 26th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott's honor may be directed to the Bellevue High School Athletic General Fund, 201 West Street, Bellevue, MI 49021.
