Sharon K. Gripe, age 77, a lifelong Battle Creek resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2021.
Sharon was born on December 6, 1943, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Edward and Alma Lucille (Snow) Gripe.
Sharon grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1962 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, earned an Associate Degree in Education from Kellogg Community College; a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Michigan University and her Master's in Education from Western Michigan University in 1966. Sharon retired as a longtime Kindergarten Teacher for Harper Creek Community Schools, after 34 years of inspiring students to learn.
Sharon is survived by great nieces and nephews, Brandon (Angie) Roscoe, Amy Rose, Jacob Noteboom, Larry Noteboom, and Rebecca (Justin) Titus, Tyler Noteboom; and many great great-nieces and nephews, Alayna Roscoe, Roman Roscoe, Avianna Robinson, Dalton Rose, Danyella Noteboom, Kodee Wolf, Cyleigh Noteboom, Cassidy Noteboom, Caitlyn Noteboom, Hailee Titus and Hannah Titus. Members of Sharon's family that went to be with their Lord were her father on August 27, 1971; her mother on March 3, 2016; her sister, Joyce White; an infant sister, Janet Ruth Gripe in December of 1942; a niece, Sherry Roscoe and two nephews, Jeffery Noteboom and David Noteboom.
Sharon was a devoted member of the former Pennfield Church of the Nazarene. Sharon and her mother spent countless hours together, including shopping at the Farmer's Market, buying honey and other homemade products. She enjoyed working on quilts with the Sew-N- Sews at First Presbyterian Church and looked forward to visits with her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, reading and cooking meals on special occasions for her extended family.
Family and friends are welcome to visit and share memories of Sharon from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the hour prior to services. A service to celebrate Sharon's life will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Committal and interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Township, where she will be placed next to her parents.
