Teresa Annette "Pappoose" (Wood) Byers went to be with her Savior on Thursday, June 26, 2014. She passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Teri was born August 14, 1962 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Thurman "Leon" and Diane (Benfield) Wood. She was a 1980 graduate of Pennfield High School and dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Teri married Michael L. Byers on November 2, 1991 in Nashville, MI. She attended Grace Community Church. She greatly enjoyed expressing her creative side through scrapbooking and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed tackling crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. She shared her light with the world by singing at many events.
Teri is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Margaret Byers and Celeste (Byers) Jackson; a step-son, Michael Byers Jr. and her mother, Diane Wood. She was a proud "Ganny" to her grandchildren, Kyrah Byers, Vaden Jackson, Riley Jackson, Amya Byers and Jayden Byers. Other survivors include her sister, Melanie (Ed) Zentera; a niece, Emma Zentera and a nephew, Eddie Zentera.
Teri was preceded in death by her father, Thurman "Leon" Wood, grandson, Cyrus McDaniel, and her father and mother in law, Hubert and Velma "Elaine" Byers.
Visitation will be Monday, June 30 from 5-7 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Teri's life will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, officiated by Pastor Brad Smith of Grace Community Church. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association.
