Thomas James "Tom" Holmgren

Thomas J. Holmgren, age 72, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at home. He was born on January 26, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Earl J. Ardis and Mary W. Holmgren (Ardis). Leaving high school he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged. He married Melva Mullins in October 1967 and she is the mother of his son, Thomas J. Holmgren, Jr. That marriage ended in divorce. Tom was an avid motorcyclist and loved restoring cars and trucks; and and traveling. His most recent travels included Jamaica and the Grand Canyon. The Silver Lake sand dunes in Michigan was his favorite location.

Thomas is survived by a son Thomas J. Holmgren and Jeffrey Meeker of Aurora, Illinois, a sister Karen M. Folk (Paul) of Palmyra, PA, two half-brothers, Carl B. Holmgren Jr. of Charlotte MI and Ronald E. Ardis of Hawaii, and a half-sister Mavis Ardis of Marshall, MI. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, Earl J. and Mary W. Ardis, a sister Theresa May Ardis, and half-brother William Charles Holmgren.

Tom requested cremation and per his wishes no service or visitation will be scheduled.
