Mrs. Vernial (Williams) LeBlanc, affectionally known as “Nig” transitioned peacefully on March 2, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on April 10, 1951 to Beulah Johnson in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a toddler, the family moved to Battle Creek, MI where she met and fell in love with Charles ‘Doc Beatty’ LeBlanc, married in Sept, 1973.
Vernial attended Springfield Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Southwestern Jr. High School, and then onto Battle Creek Central High School where she graduated in 1986. She was employed at Clark Equipment Co. from the mid 1970’s to early 1980’s before becoming a full-time homemaker and devoted mother caring for her children, nephew, and grandchildren. She also had over a 30-year engagement with Kinship Care as a foster mother.
Vernial was a woman of profound wisdom, unwavering faith, and the kind of warmth that turned a house into a home. She was the keeper of family traditions, the unshakable matriarch, and the unwavering force of love in every storm. She was a devoted Christian woman, one who did not just know the scriptures but lived them. Prayer was her superpower, an unbreakable connection to God. In moments of joy, she gave thanks. In moments of sorrow, she sought guidance. And in moments of uncertainty, she stood firm, knowing her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life.
Vernial was a longtime member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and became a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church on May 19, 2024. She was a part of the Nursing Guild Ministry and Pastor’s Aid Committee. She enjoyed attending church/reading the bible/praying, cooking for family, watching western cowboy shows, shopping, making tie knot blankets, and talking on the phone. Most notably, she was protective, loved spending time with family, and adored caring for her great granddaughters NaVaeh & Emoni.
Her love was truly unconditional, her generosity was unmatched, and her jubilant laugh is irreplaceable. She was supportive and encouraged anyone seeking guidance. She was a mother figure to neighborhood children and her door was always open.
“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gates.” — Proverbs 31:31
