Violet Marjorie "Vi" Brady

February 27, 1921 — November 25, 2014

Violet Marjorie "Vi" (Adams) Brady, age 93, of Cocoa, Florida and formerly of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Weusthoff Hospital Rockledge in Florida.

Violet was born February 27, 1921 in Battle Creek, the loving daughter of Orwin and Ada Bessie (Cady) Adams. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1939 and entered the United States Coast Guard. Violet faithfully served during WWII in Palm Beach, FL and was discharged with the rank of Chief Yeoman. Violet was an avid golfer, loved to sew, was a past member of the Women's Guild of St. Phillip and loved to play cards with her friends and family.

Violet met and married the "Love of Her Life", Peter H. Brady on April 27, 1946 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They returned to Battle Creek after the war where they made their home in 1947. They continued to live in Battle Creek, raising their family until moving to Florida in 1980. Peter sadly preceded her in death on September 25, 2005.

Violet is survived by her 9 children, Patricia (George S.) Beronja of Battle Creek, John (Sue) Brady of Saginaw, MI, Diana (Haven H.) Hemmings of Cocoa, Florida, Kathleen Cummins of Cocoa, Florida, Peter (Lorie) Brady, James (Thresa) Brady, Mel (Ron) Beimers all of Battle Creek, Thomas (Janet) Brady of Cocoa, Florida and Joanne Strickland of Houston, Texas; 41 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 6 siblings; a grandson, Rick Hemmings, and 2 great-grandchildren, Colten Brady Beronja and Lainey Star Kreger.

Funeral services to celebrate Violet's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Family and friends will continue the celebration of Violet's beautiful life with a reception at 4:00 p.m. at the Riverside Country Club, 245 E. Columbia Ave., Battle Creek.
