Vivian Sigler Dodge, 93, of Battle Creek, was born in Chillicothe, Ohio in June of 1922. She was the daughter of Dr. Claude and Ruth Sigler. She died peacefully, October 20, 2015.
Vivian graduated from Chilicothe High School and attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry graduating in 1942 as a Dental Hygienist. She was an active member of the Theta chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation she served on the Theta Chapter board of Alpha Chi Omega for several years.
In 1944 she was united in marriage to Dr. W. Smith Dodge the son of Warren and Ruth Dodge of Marshall Michigan. Vivian and Dr. Dodge started a dental practice in Battle Creek Michigan where they practiced for 45 years. Vivian was an active member in the Michigan Dental Auxiliary, and was a member of the Junior League of greater Battle Creek. She also did doing volunteer work at Ann J. Kellogg school helping the blind children. She also was an active member of the Battle Creek Country Club where she enjoyed golf and bridge. After retirement they spent the winter in Pompano Beach Florida, and enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. W. Smith Dodge, son Dr. Robert Sigler Dodge, and brother Dr. John Sigler. She is survived by her son Douglas and wife Susan of Indio, California; her daughter Ann Wiltshire and husband Michael of Port Townsend, Washington; her daughter in law Cindy Dodge of King City, California; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She shared a special relationship with grandson Robert Isom and wife Samantha of Delton, Michigan. Her faith in God and her family were her most important functions. She loved her family and friends and was always ready to help whoever needed help and bake them cookies. She was especially diligent in writing letters to friends and family members and sending Christmas cards. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service to celebrate Vivian's life will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
