William David "Bill" Evans of Augusta, MI
Bill, age 76, died Tuesday evening, August 11, 2020 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital following a brief illness.
Bill, the son of William Owen and Marion (Erickson) Evans, was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 7, 1944; was lifetime area resident and a 1962 graduate of Gull Lake High School. He served his Country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a SP5, stationed in Germany. Bill retired in 2005 as Plant Manager for Production Plated Plastics Company of Richland Township after many years of faithful service. He was a past member of the Augusta Custer V.F.W. Post # 7956 and the American Legion. Bill was an excellent woodworker and he especially loved creating kitchen cabinets, cribs and toys. He was an avid antique auto enthusiast, touring the many Classic Car Shows and the Gilmore Car Museum with his '41 Chevy, '59 Ford Ranchero and '69 Olds Cutlass.
Bill was united in marriage to the former, Pauline Louise "Polly" Armanini in Battle Creek on April 24, 1968 and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Charles R. Paus of Augusta; four precious grandchildren, Paige (Becca) Sloan, Joseph Paus, McKenzie (Tyler) Nelson and Travis Doolittle; three great grandchildren, Grayson Paus, Dominic Nelson and Branden Doolittle and his brother, Kent (Janet) Evans of Battle Creek. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Cheri R. Doolittle on August 1, 1992.
Due to government restrictions, the Graveside Service to celebrate Bill's life will be private and for the family only with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's honor may be directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or the American Lung Association. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel is assisting Bill's family.
