William Wayne "Lou" Pryor

William Wayne "Lou" Pryor of Marshall, MI

Lou, age 92, died peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018.

Lou was born June 10, 1926 in Jackson, Michigan the son of M.L. and Lottie (Archer) Pryor. He grew up in the Albion area, attended Albion High School and then joined the U.S. Navy, honorably serving his country during WWII. Lou was a master mechanic and retired from the former Ronan & Kunzel Co. in Marshall, where he fabricated electric sliding doors for commercial use.

Lou married Elizabeth Wilder in 1948. She had four children whom he raised as his own, Linda Wilder Blade (deceased), Deanna Wilder Livernois of Marshall, Robert (Patty) Wilder of Colombia City, IN and Frank (Billie) Wilder of Champagne, IL. They had four children, Russell (Kathleen) Pryor of Marshall, Nora Pryor (deceased), Keith Pryor in Florida and Dora Pryor Mefford (deceased). Their marriage ended in divorce. Lou married Pansy Vandever in 1966 and raised her four children, Don Vandever and Pat Vandever (both deceased), Cloyce Vandever of Marshall and Ruth Vandever (David) Organic of Battle Creek. Pansy preceded Lou in death in 2002. Lou is also survived by his companion, Suzanne Hamlin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Lou was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Lou loved to dance, especially at Fredonia Grange, Maple Leaf Grange, Mosierville, Coldwater Community Center and in Scotts. He had many friends at those dances, which he considered his family. Lou loved to ride and work on his motorcycles. He once owned a 1953 Indian Chief that he loved to tinker with and ride.

The Graveside Service to celebrate Lou's life will be held on Friday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, where full military honors will be bestowed by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard. Memorial contributions in Lou's honor may be directed to Heartland Hospice Care of Jackson, 865 S. Cedar Street, Mason, MI 4885. Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Lou's family.
